Vernon “Butch” Jones – Chief Executive Officer
Butch joined Transcend in 2008 with a goal to build the next great brokerage firm.
Prior to joining Transcend, Butch was one of the founding members and an Executive Vice President of CyberTrader. One of the first companies to develop many of the direct market access trading tools used today, CyberTrader was sold to Charles Schwab in March 2000. Butch continued with Schwab as a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at CyberTrader until 2006. Butch managed Client Services, Brokerage Operations, Network Operations, and the business development teams.
Under his leadership CyberTrader grew three straight years and continued to influence Schwab’s operations model. In Butch’s operational capacity he led a number of cost saving initiatives across all of Charles Schwab and was instrumental in significant expense reductions in both trade clearing and market data.
Involved in the industry since 1995, Butch has influenced many areas of electronic trading. He co-founded Millennium DAQCOM, and helped grow the firm into five fully operational Block Trading offices.
Butch holds Series 7, 24, and 63 Securities Licenses.
Mike DeNio – President
Mike joined Transcend in October 2002 and has been instrumental in the growth and reorganization of the firm, which initially offered option-based hedging strategies, to one that has become a full service brokerage.
Mike initially joined Transcend as head of Business Development. In this role he landed a number of top accounts that led to the first phase of Transcend's growth. This growth and Mike's vision for Transcend drove him to buy out his partners in 2005 and begin to refocus the firm towards providing quality trade execution and related services to institutional clients.
Prior to Transcend, Mike held consulting, management and proprietary trading development positions with ProTrader Securities Corporation. He was the head trader for their proprietary desk and a member of the management team. In addition to his corporate management role, he provided key consulting services to many of their retail offices across the country.
Mike's career in the financial services industry began in 1995 as a trader at Block Trading, where he was a pioneer in the area of electronic trading. His input was a cornerstone for the development of CyberTrader software, one of the first direct access trading platforms available.
Mike holds Series 7, 24, 55, 63 and 65 Securities Licenses.
Brad Swearingen – Chief Information Officer
Brad's role at Transcend Capital is to provide vision, leadership, and strategic planning for developing and implementing all aspects of the organization's information technology initiatives. Brad has worked in the information technology industry for more than 20 years and been involved in the financial services industry since 1996. Brad obtained a Bachelor of Computer Science in 1989 from Missouri Southern State University. In addition, he attended graduate school at the University of Missouri Rolla with a concentration in predictive technology and artificial intelligence.
Prior to joining Transcend Capital, Brad was one of the founders of CyberTrader and the firm's first software developer. CyberTrader was purchased by Charles Schwab in March of 2000. Brad's title at Charles Schwab was Senior Vice President of Technology as well as CIO and Executive Vice President of CyberTrader. In these roles, Brad continued to oversee all the CyberTrader products and information technology as well as the technology integration between CyberTrader and Charles Schwab which included Schwab's active trader products Velocity, StreetSmart Pro, and StreetSmart.com. These products were available to over 250,000 active trader clients.
James Kupfer – Chief Compliance Officer
James joined Transcend Capital in April 2007 and currently serves as the Chief Compliance Officer. He is responsible for most of the supervisory duties of the firm as well as day-to-day operations in the area of client support, software and trading.
From March 2000 until January 2007, James served in a wide variety of roles within CyberTrader. In these roles he was responsible for a significant portion of the firm’s compliance, reporting and day-to-day operations. Prior to joining CyberTrader, James was a proprietary trader and also served as an Investment Adviser at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.
James was a contributing author to Day Trading for Dummies (2007) and has written numerous articles published by Stocks & Commodities Magazine and other websites. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Economics.
James holds the following Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) licenses: Series 7, 24, 3, 4, 55, 63 & 65.
